“We need much less than we think we need.”
-Maya Angelou

What is Clutter?

  • Anything that is unused or unloved
  • Anything that is untidy or disorganized
  • Anything that overwhelms the space available
  • Anything that can’t be fixed
  • Anything that is unfinished

How does clutter impact you?

Clutter impacts you in almost every area of your life.  It affects you physically, financially, mentally relationally, and spiritually.

Physically-body and space

  • Depletes your immune system and overall energy
  • Exacerbates allergies and stress hormones
  • Increases risks of hazards
  • Decreases odds of exercise

Financially

  • Increases your chances of having to pay late fees when you can’t find your bills
  • Causes duplicate spending when you can’t find what you need
  • Increases your chances of renting a storage unit because you are out of space

Mentally

  • Increases stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Weakens decision making skills
  • Increases procrastination
  • Prevents living or appreciating the moment
  • Causes hopelessness and feeling out of control.

Relationally

  • Makes you feel tired and lethargic
  • Increases procrastination
  • Causes disharmony
  • Impacts your enjoyment on life

Spiritually

  • Reduces a sense of purpose
  • Obstructs our spiritual view
  • Impacts our overall attitude
  • Distracts us from spending time alone with God

With less, you have more time, more money, stronger relationships, and a healthier mind, body, and spirit.

“Frugality is one of the most beautiful and joyful words in the English language, and yet one that we are culturally cut off from understanding and enjoying. The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things.”

-Elise Boulding
